Mmmmm automatic everything

When dealing with devices associated with home automation I really like all the recent releases being released by companies like Power Control Systems and the Zigbee Alliance.
Almost all of these latest products being released are not really as much of a step forward as you’d think since they could all be accomplished through other means utilizing other off-the-shelf stuff but nowadays they are available as a nice kit. That and you won’t feel like you need an electrical engineering degree to make it work.
A few comparisons show us a lot of likenesses among the technologies involved. For instance, few of the technologies use handheld remote products as RF relays, and it’s hard to find one that doesn’t use radio frequency someway. With other differences however, things get interesting – I’m not going to endeavor to describe it here and mess it up, this site X10 home automation has good discussions talking about the divergences.
