So many questions about remote controlled curtains

by on Mar.28, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

It’s pretty well known that for things considered to be home of the future type stuff I’m a big fan of recent stuff developed from places like the Z-Wave alliance and the Z-Wave alliance.

What’s interesting is that the recent devices developed aren’t in reality as novel as they would seem because they had been created through other means utilizing existing readily available products but instead now they’re available as a tidy kit. That and these kits don’t feel like you need a 6 page schematic to make it work.

A few comparisons show us many likenesses amongst the product lineups. One such similarity, not one of them use handheld remote items as signal repeaters, and all the items use advanced RF to strengthen signals. Beyond this though, it becomes more interesting – I’m not going to try to explain it now and explain things poorly, a site like this ISY-99i review has pages dedicated to talking about the differentiators.

Now anyone with any thoughts relating to ways to bring in enough funds to fund my recent habit, please help me out!

Scoping my fusion of media room against house automation …

by on Mar.27, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Switching focus from domotics to home cinemas is hardly that big of a evolution bearing in mind lots of folks (including me) probably began the curiosity for control of lights via a harmony remote to make the uber-cool theatre room setup complete. We found that the Harmony controllers have been a miracle and we now have one for each one of our tv sets. Since we don’t watch that non-PVR style of watching at all, it seems there’s almost always what seemed like many things to turn on and it made me so frustrated picking up one control followed by the next one until things were setup, before we have to go backwards on the procedure once the show was finished.

The other thing is, the integration of lighting control and home theatres is getting closer each time I check with some of the respected manufacturers releasing infared integration from your automation network recently and so you can now perform events such as commanding a mp3 system that’s on a different floor of the condo with only one’s RF house controls. It’s exciting, although it’s clarified in more detail here: Insteon iPhone when compared to some technology sites so it’s a key site to learn from.

You can tell he is seriously excited when reviewing this stuff.

Speaking with Mark triggered something !

by on Mar.27, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

We watched a killer house on the news which probably made me salivate – They had used lighting control and performed a thorough job of having it be impressive. Each door was thinking on its own and even things like the phones as well as the bathroom plasmas were fully integrated.

We’ve used devices for controlling lights for years but I had never seen something this advanced, it was sensational and I want everything I saw now.

We talk about having our house more automated so it can like following me with music through the house or checking our grocery list for items we’re missing. Although these situations are still several years in terms of general accessibility (despite the fact that some average people are in the process of it) nevertheless things like environment modes which can be changed over the internet should be locally available and economical recently. This week I’m going to win over the wife... at which point she can hold responsible the place where it all started: Insteon Controller

How frustrating, I hate stop and go traffic due to poor driving!

by on Mar.26, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Most days I like work, but some days the drive coming in is enough to convince me to go back to bed. A million stupid motorists coupled with a passing interest in concentration to the roadway. Making things worse, I then hit my tea just as I pulled in to the parking lot...

So this is life.

Initiating our merger of gaming room with automation …..

by on Mar.26, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Going from lighting control into home movie rooms shouldn’t be that big of a change considering countless people (not counting us) almost certainly started their curiosity for control of lights through a remote control to make the entire room-turned-theatre experience just right. Personally the Logitech Harmony remotes have been a key device and we now have one for virtually all of our tv sets. Especially since I don’t watch that live programming thing anymore, there is almost always at least a couple receivers and the like to turn on which made me so frustrated using one control and then the next until all the devices were on, just to repeat the method after the movie was finished.

Welcome to BT

Speaking of remotes, the commingling of automation and our ‘relaxing’ technologies is moving closer each day with almost all respected companies prototyping infrared management from your domotics network as of late and because of this anyone with an interest can now perform stuff such as scripting a radio that is across the house utilizing one’s remote home network controls. Very cool overall, and everything is clarified in more detail here: X10 review than other blogs so it’s a essential place to learn from.
It’s great – the writer is way too enthusiastic regarding automation devices.
