When dealing with technologies related to house automation I really like any of the new products developed through companies like SmartLabs and SmartLabs.

It should be noted that the latest devices developed shouldn’t be considered in reality as much of a step forward as you’d think due to the fact that they likely had been done through other means utilizing available standard parts but for beginners they’re accessible as a nice set. Another perk is now you don’t need a 6 page schematic to make it work.

Certainly there exist several resemblances amongst the vendor offerings. One such similarity, none of the product lineups use battery-operated devices as message boosters, and almost all products use advanced RF in some way. When investigating further however, it gets more interesting – I’d rather not struggle to explain it myself and explain things poorly, a site like this Zwave devices has good discussions analyzing some of the differences.

That said if you’re having any visions for methods to make a bit of funds to make up for our latest addiction, please pass it along!
