My talk with Bill triggered something …..
by on Apr.25, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
I recently saw this mansion on the discovery channel that totally made my jaw drop – They installed motorized plasmas in the kitchen and performed a really fantastic job of having it be impressive. It seemed like every sprinkler knew what the rest of the house was doing and even silly things like the inside doors as well as the heated floors were controlled by the house.
I’ve been excited by Zwave for forever but we’d not attempted something this advanced, it was sensational and I want everything I saw now.
We talk about making the current place more automated so it can such as following me with music through the house or announcing the weather for the day in the morning. Ok a bit out in terms of general accessibility (it should be noted that some people in the forums could do it) nevertheless more practical items for example music at the touch of a button should be locally available and economical now. I think I need to win over my financial advisor... at which point she can focus her energy on the site that got me interested: Insteon vs X10

2009 is the year of Creston

With regards to items related to house automation I pay a lot of attention to most of the new items created by places like Home Automation Inc and the Z-Wave alliance.
The thing is the latest items created are not so much revolutionary as evolutionary due to the fact that they had been created previously utilizing other basic component stuff but instead now they’re available as a tidy set. As a side benefit these kits don’t require an electrical engineering degree to understand how it works.

Upon closer inspection there are several parallels with the vendor offerings. For instance, few of the product lineups use battery-operated products as message repeaters, and it seems like all use RF one way or another. Digging deeper though, it becomes involved – I’d rather not venture to explain it at this point and make a bunch of errors, a site like this X10 home automation has good discussions evaluating the differences.
That said anyone with any legal ideas on ways for me to earn some cash to pay for my latest habit, please pass it along!

Evaluating my incorporation of entertainment centers with remote control lighting !
by on Apr.24, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
Changing passions from home automation over to home entertainment is hardly very big of a evolution bearing in mind most people probably began the quest for mood lighting using a integrated control unit to make the entire in-house theatre replica perfect. In my mind the Logitech clickers have been a favorite item and we got one for virtually all of our tv sets. Considering I never watch that non-PVR thing at all, there is constantly a ton of devices to switch on and it wasted my time picking up the first remote control and then the next in line until all the devices were on, only to reverse the process once the show was completed.

While smart remotes are here now, the incorporation of technologies like Insteon and home theatres is moving more real by the day with almost all of the popular companies releasing infrared integration from a house network as of late and because of this you can now do events we couldn’t do before like commanding a mp3 system that’s at the far end of the house having just the RF automation controls. I love this stuff, though its elaborated on in more of an easy to understand fashion at Z-Wave home automation when contrasted against many places so it’s absolutely a key location which simplifies things amazingly well.
You can tell he is way too enthusiastic regarding automation devices.
Every once in a while, I really dislike traffic due to poor driving!

Some weeks I don’t mind working for the man, but some days the traffic to work is sufficient to cause me to go back to bed. One in three are lousy motorists with secondary concerns of thoughts to the thing in front of them. Adding to this, I then tipped the stupid coffee driving in to the parking garage...
Blah.
My talk with Bill made it so I couldn’t sleep …
by on Apr.23, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
We watched a wicked place on the news which seriously made my jaw drop – It was crazy X10 and had done a seriously outstanding job making it all work. Almost every light and fan knew what the rest of the house was doing and I think even the dog door plus the shower steam generator were accessible from the controllers everywhere.
I had been curious about lighting control for forever but I had never seen a dream house like this, it was crazy and I’m still in shock.
We talk about making our house more automated so it can like running a bath by just asking the house to or voice alerting us to someone at the door. I’ll admit some stuff is still pretty far in the future (despite the fact that some average people have made it work) still stuff for example atmosphere settings for parties or relaxing should be locally available and reasonably priced today. The last step is to win over the lady writing the cheques... following which she can focus her energy on the site where I found the information: Zwave devices
