My night got me thinking
by on May.26, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
Last night was this one house on HGTV which literally made me salivate – They had used X10 and did a so-so job making it all work. It seemed like every light and fan could be controlled and even silly things like the phones and arcade room were fully integrated.
I had been curious about Zigbee for years but seeing something like this, it was wicked and I want everything I saw now.
I always talk about having where we’re living do neat stuff such as turning on the shower in the morning or voice alerting us to someone at the door. maybe some stuff is a bit out from now (despite the fact that some houses could do it) but more practical items such as atmosphere settings which can be changed over the internet have come down in price and easy(er) on the pocket today. In order to make this happen I need to plead my case to the lady writing the cheques...... at which point she can focus her energy on the site where it all started: Insteon iPhone

I love remote lighting
by on May.26, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
With regards to items associated with house automation I’m a big fan of most of the recent products being released through vendors such as the Z-Wave alliance and SmartLabs.
What’s interesting is that the recent products being released are not actually as as much of a movement as one would imagine since they likely had been accomplished previously utilizing available standard products but nowadays they’re offered as a nice kit. That and you won’t need an electrical engineering degree to set things up.

A deeper look shows us a few parallels among the vendor offerings. One such similarity, none of the offerings use cordless devices as RF relays, and it seems like all use RF someway. Digging deeper still, it becomes more involved – Rather than struggle to express it myself and make a fool of myself, there’s a site here Home automation products is better at talking about some of the differences.
Now anyone with thoughts on ways for me to bring in some money to sponsor our new obsession, kindly let me know!
Every once in a while, I hate 2 hour delays that make me late!

Many weeks I don’t hate working downtown, but sometimes the drive alone is reason enough to convince me not to show up. Too many poor people driving with hardly any thoughts to the road. As if that wasn’t enough, I then knocked over my carefully balanced coffee coming into the parking stall...
Another day another dollar.

Chatting with Joe made me fired up !

There was a house on HGTV which probably made me stare – It was crazy lighting control and had done a decent job of having it be impressive. Every window curtain was integrated and amazingly the bath tubs as well as the arcade room were accessible from the controllers everywhere.
We’ve used X10 for forever but I hadn’t even dreamed about something like this, it was amazing and I want everything I saw now.
We talk about having our apartment do cool things like running a bath by just asking the house to or voice alerting us to someone at the door. maybe some stuff is most realistically a couple years in the future (it should be noted that some average people have made it work) despite this items like lighting for parties or relaxing have come down in price and economical this year. In order to make this happen I need to plead my case to my financial advisor... following which she can hold responsible the site which made me interested in the first place: ISY-99i

Argh, I friggin hate pileups on the way to work!

Most times I am apathetic about working downtown, but some days the trip coming in is all it takes to drive me not to show up. One in three are horrible drivers and a passing interest in thoughts to the thing in front of them. To top it off, I hit my coffee as I drove in to the parking garage...
So this is life.
