I’m dreaming of remote control lights

by on Jun.25, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Just like many items associated with home of the future type stuff I watch pretty carefully any recent products coming out by vendors such as Inc and Power Control Systems.
Many of the recent products coming out aren’t actually as revolutionary as evolutionary due to the fact that these things could all be done other ways using existing basic component parts but instead now they’re accessible as a tidy set. That and these kits don’t feel like you need a complicated circuit diagram to figure it out.

Looking closer we see several resemblances with the brands. One such similarity, not one of the product lineups use handheld remote items as message boosters, and it seems like all use radio frequency in some way. When investigating further though, it gets interesting – Rather than struggle to express it at this point and make a fool of myself, a site like this Home automation products does a good job of analyzing the contrast points.

That said anyone with thoughts for methods to make some money to sponsor our recent compulsion, kindly help me out!

Beginning the crossover points of entertainment centers with automation .

by on Jun.25, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Changing passions from automation of your home to home theatres is not that big of a stretch taking into account most people (including me) probably started their exploration for perfect ambiance via a harmony remote to make the entire room-turned-theatre setup complete. Maybe it’s just me but the touchscreen remote controls have turned out to be a marvel and we now purchased one for each of the tv watching areas. Since I just don’t do the ‘live’ tv style of watching anymore, it felt like there was perpetually what seemed like many entertainment systems to turn on and it I hated - picking up the first remote then the subsequent one until all the devices were on, only to reverse the method once we were over.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Speaking of remotes, the merger of automation technologies and home entertainment is becoming closer by the week with many well known companies releasing infared transmit and receive from a domotics network recently and so you can then do actions like commanding a tuner on a different floor of the condo using one’s wireless Zwave tool. It’s exciting, although the whole thing is explained with more of a tutorial style at this site ISY-99 when contrasted against many blogs so it’s a good site to check out.

I love that he is dangerously eager about technology.

Something made it hard to think about anything else

Two weeks ago this mansion on extreme home makeover which literally made my jaw drop – The house had and had done a decent job of having it be impressive. Almost every light and fan knew what the rest of the house was doing and I didn’t see this coming but the bath tubs plus the arcade room were controlled by the house.

I’ve been excited by basic for years but I hadn’t even dreamed about systems like this, it was crazy and truly remarkable.
I always talk about letting the house do cool things such as turning on the shower in the morning or checking our grocery list for items we’re missing. maybe some stuff is still several years in terms of general accessibility (despite the fact that some average people have made it work) though some more pragmatic goals for instance lighting control which respond to your moods have come down in price and economical lately. When I get home I will plead my case to the wife...... following which she can blame the link which made me interested in the first place: ISY-99 Insteon

Who loves X-10

by on Jun.24, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

It’s pretty well known that for technologies considered to be home of the future type stuff I pay a lot of attention to most of the recent devices being announced by consortiums like SmartLabs and Inc.
The thing is these latest devices being announced aren’t so much novel as they would seem because they likely had been created before utilizing currently accessible readily available items but instead now they’re available as a nice set. Another perk is these kits don’t need a 6 page schematic to get it working.

open house and rack

A few comparisons show us quite a few similarities with the technologies involved. For instance, none of them use handheld remote devices as signal relays, and all the items use RF in some manner. Beyond this however, it gets interesting – I’m not going to venture to express it at this point and mess it up, there’s a site here Insteon switch has good discussions evaluating the discrepancies.

So anyone with any thoughts for ways for me to make some dough to pay for my latest infatuation, for pete’s sake share!

Talking with Mike made me think …..

by on Jun.22, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Two weeks ago a sweet house on that show after Lost that totally caused me to drool – It was crazy Zwave and performed a decent job making it all work. Each ceiling fan could be controlled and amazingly the garage doors and pool were accessible from the many panels in the house.

BB8 - getting wire were its needed.

I’ve been excited by basic for forever but we’d not attempted automation of this level, it was crazy and I want everything I saw now.
Sometimes I dream of making the current place more automated so it can like adjusting the temperature for each room or voice alerting us to someone at the door. I’ll admit some stuff is a ways from now (despite the fact that some houses are in the process of it) still some more pragmatic goals for example lighting and music which can be changed over the internet are well within reach and inexpensive recently. I think I need to persuade the significant other... then she can hold responsible the site that got me interested: Insteon Controller
