She just loves remote lighting
by on Aug.31, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
Like most items related to automation I’m a big fan of all the recent items being released by places like the Z-Wave alliance and the Zigbee Alliance.
Some of these new products being released are not actually as novel as they would seem seeing as these things likely had been built before working with other basic products but for those starting out they are available as a prebuilt set. That and now you don’t require a 6 page schematic to understand how it works.

Certainly there exist many resemblances amongst the technologies involved. One such similarity, almost none of the offerings use handheld remote items as RF boosters, and they all use RF as a backup. Beyond this still, it becomes a bit complex – I’d rather not attempt to describe it now and make a fool of myself, this site Zwave products is better at evaluating some of the variations.
Now anyone with any legal ideas relating to tricks to bring in sufficient cash to cover my new addiction, please let me know!
Something got me planning …

I recently saw a sweet house on one of the HD channels which literally caused me to beg my wife – They were using motorized plasmas in the kitchen and did a decent job of the implementation. Each light could be controlled and amazingly the inside doors as well as the robot vacuum were fully integrated.
I always liked Zigbee for years but I’d never seen a system of this caliber, it was wicked and I want everything I saw now.
We talk about having our home do cool things such as adjusting the temperature for each room or voice alerting us to someone at the door. Ok a ways in the future (it should be noted that there are people that could do it) nonetheless things such as music which can be changed over the internet are well within reach and economical now. I think I need to persuade my lovely wife- at which point she can focus her energy on the page where it all started: Zwave products

2009 is the year of home automation

When it comes to things related to domotics I really like any of the new releases produced from consortiums like Home Automation Inc and Power Control Systems.
Nearly all of the new devices produced shouldn’t be considered so much new as they appear since this stuff could be built before working with existing off-the-shelf parts but now they are presented as a nice kit. As a side benefit these kits don’t require fluke testers around the house to figure it out.

A deeper look shows us several correlations with the product lineups. One such similarity, none of the offerings use battery-operated devices as message boosters, and almost all products use radio waves in some manner. Digging deeper though, it gets more a bit complex – I could venture to describe it here and mess it up, there’s a site here Insteon thermostat has good discussions highlighting some of the variations.
Now anybody having any legal ideas relating to ways to pull together sufficient moolah to make up for my latest addiction, don’t hesitate to pass it along!
A commercial got me started .

We watched a wicked place on that house makeover show which almost made my jaw drop – They had used home automation and had done a pretty decent job of the implementation. Nearly every light knew what to do and get this- the car starters as well as the heated floors were accessible from the controllers everywhere.
My wife and I have liked basic home automation for forever but thinking about a dream house like this, it was amazing and truly remarkable.
We talk about letting our condo do cool things like announcing caller ID anywhere in the house or displaying the news in the bathroom mirror. maybe some stuff is a bit out from now (regardless of this some groups have done it) still items like atmosphere settings which can be changed over the internet should be locally available and economical this year. One more thing to do: sway the significant other...... following which I’m sure she’ll just love the page that helped me learn about this stuff: Insteon Controller

How frustrating, I hate traffic due to poor driving!
by on Aug.29, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
There are days I take satisfaction in working for the man, but there are times when the travel alone is enough to make me want not to show up. One in three are horrible drivers and barely any thoughts to the thing in front of them. Making things worse, I then spilled my carefully balanced coffee as I drove in to the parking garage...
Grrrr.
