My chat with Susie made me think !

Last night was a sweet house on holmes on homes that totally made my jaw drop – They had used automatic sprinklers and did a decent job of the implementation. It seemed like every thing that possibly could knew what the other was doing and I didn’t see this coming but the litter boxes plus the heated floors were part of the system.
I always liked X10 for years but we’d not attempted automation of this level, it was inspiring and I’m still in shock.
I often day dream of letting where we’re living do fancy tasks along the lines of adjusting the temperature for each room or checking our grocery list for items we’re missing. Although these situations are still several years in the future (although some people have done it) though stuff such as music for parties or relaxing are available and easy(er) on the pocket today. In order to make this happen I need to sway the significant other... following which she can focus her energy on the place that got me started on all this: ISY-99i

As with all things related to domotics I pay a lot of attention to most of the new releases being released through places like SmartLabs and Home Automation Inc.
The thing is the new devices being released shouldn’t be considered so much revolutionary as evolutionary in that this stuff was created other ways utilizing other off-the-shelf parts but nowadays they’re offered as a prebuilt set. That and these kits don’t feel like you need fluke testers around the house to figure it out.
Looking closer we see a few correlations between the brands. For example, not one of the offerings use battery-operated products as signal relays, and all the items use wireless communication in some capacity. Looking deeper however, it becomes more interesting – I could struggle to express it at this point and make mistakes, there’s a site here Insteon is better at analyzing any discrepancies.
That said anyone with thoughts regarding how I can pull together enough dough to fund our new dependence, for pete’s sake let me know!
