Like most technologies considered to be I pay a lot of attention to most of the recent products for sale through places like Power Control Systems and the Zigbee Alliance.
Many of these new items for sale aren’t really as revolutionary as evolutionary because this stuff could all be accomplished previously working with currently accessible off-the-shelf products but for those starting out they are presented as a nice kit. One other thing is now you don’t need a complicated circuit diagram to figure it out.

A few comparisons show us a lot of likenesses amongst the major players. For instance, almost none of the technologies use cordless products as RF relays, and they all use radio frequency someway. When investigating further still, things become more involved – I could endeavor to explain it here and make a bunch of errors, this place Zwave lighting has good discussions analyzing some of the differences.

Now if you have good ideas on ways to earn a bit of moolah to make up for our recent compulsion, please pass it along!

Last night was a killer house on one of the HD channels which almost made my jaw drop – Everywhere they had installed automatic sprinklers and had done a seriously outstanding job of having it be impressive. Every ceiling fan was centrally controlled and things like the inside doors plus the hot tub were controlled.

My wife and I have liked the clapper for a while now but I’d never seen a system of this caliber, it was inspiring and truly remarkable.

I often day dream of letting our home more automated so it can along the lines of announcing caller ID anywhere in the house or reminding us of obligations as we leave the house. Ok still pretty far in the future (although some groups have made it work) nonetheless some more pragmatic goals such as music which respond to your moods have come down in price and easy(er) on the pocket lately. One more thing to do: plead my case to my lovely wife...... following which she can hold responsible the place that helped me learn about this stuff: ISY-99
