I love home automation toys
by on Oct.29, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave
With regards to things associated with home automation I’m a big fan of the new stuff being announced by companies such as the Z-Wave alliance and Power Control Systems.
Almost all of these latest products being announced aren’t really as big a deal as they claim in that they had been accomplished through other means using available basic component stuff but for beginners they’re presented as a organized kit. As a side benefit these kits don’t feel like you need a 6 page schematic to figure it out.

A deeper look shows us many similarities amongst the major players. For instance, few of the product lineups use cordless devices as message relays, and almost all products use wireless communication one way or another. With other differences however, things become more interesting – I could venture to explain it now and make a bunch of errors, a site like this Z-Wave home automation has good discussions highlighting the contrast points.
That said anyone with any visions regarding methods to earn sufficient dough to fund my latest addiction, kindly let me know!
Talking with Mike triggered something !

I recently saw a sweet house on abc which probably caused me to drool – They had used Zigbee and had done a decent job setting things up. Nearly every overhead light knew what to do and I think even the phones as well as the bathroom plasmas were controlled.
I’ve been excited by Zwave for ages but I had never seen a house like this, it was inspiring and truly remarkable.
I always talk about having our apartment more automated so it can such as following me with music through the house or voice alerting us to someone at the door. Many things are a bit out from now (although certain rich folks could do it) however things for instance lighting control which respond to your moods are well within reach and easy(er) on the pocket now. I really should plead my case to my lovely wife... after which I’m sure she’ll just love the site which made me interested in the first place: Zwave vs Insteon
