Starting my intersection of projector rooms with remote control lights !

Transitioning starting with automation into home cinemas is not much of a transition considering the majority of users (not counting us) likely kicked off their exploration for lighting through a remote to make the super cool room-turned-theatre setup complete. Personally the iPod touch remote controls have been a godsend and we now purchased one for each of our tv watching areas. Considering I don’t do the non-PVR thing anymore, it felt like there was always a bunch of things to flick on and it I hated - grabbing the first clicker then the next in line until it was ready, before we have to go backwards on the procedure after the show was over and done with.

While smart remotes are here now, the integration of automation technologies and home theatres is becoming nearer by the time I check with most of the well known vendors prototyping infrared transmit and receive from a home automation system as of late and as a result one can now do stuff like controlling a mp3 system which could be at the far end of the apartment utilizing just the RF Insteon tool. Can you tell I’m excited? It’s neat, although the details are elaborated on with more of a tutorial style at Home automation iPhone when compared to many Insteon blogs so it’s for sure a good location to check out.
That guy is dangerously eager when discussing this stuff.

Chatting with Joe got me planning

We watched a huge building on that show after Lost which almost made me stare – The house had motorized drapes and performed a pretty decent job of putting the pieces together. Every light and fan had a remote control and stuff like the dog door plus the robot vacuum were eerily controlled.
I’ve been excited by devices for controlling lights for what seems like forever but I had never seen automation of this level, it was crazy and truly remarkable.
We talk about making the superhome that we live in (slight exageration) do fancy tasks like announcing caller ID anywhere in the house or checking our grocery list for items we’re missing. Ok still pretty far from now (although there are people that could do it) however items such as music that can be remotely controlled are well within reach and easy(er) on the pocket lately. In order to make this happen I need to convince the wife... after which she can focus her energy on the place that got me started on all this: Zwave lighting

How frustrating, I friggin hate 2 hour delays on the way in!

Some days I take satisfaction in my job, but once in a while the traffic coming in is reason enough to make me want to go back to bed. Some people are such sleepy drivers with barely any attention to the thing in front of them. Adding to this, what happens next? I hit the drink in my car as I drove into the parkade... There's always tomorrow.
Re-trying the marriage of home cinema despite having remote control lights

Changing passions starting with lighting control into home theatres isn’t much of a evolution in view of the fact that many people probably kicked off the curiosity for mood lighting through a remote control to make the super cool room-turned-theatre experience perfect. In my mind the Logitech clickers have turned out to be a critical item and we now use one for each one of our house’s plasmas. Considering I rarely do the ‘live’ tv thing anymore, there’s frequently at least a couple things to switch on and it made me so frustrated using one clicker and then the next one until things were setup, only to repeat the method after we were over.

With that in mind, the combination of lighting control with our ‘relaxing’ technologies is becoming more realistic every day with some of the well known home automation places showcasing UHF transmit and receive from your automation system recently and as a result anyone with an interest can perform stuff we couldn’t do before like commanding a tuner that is clear across the home with only your RF home network tool. Very cool overall, and things are explained in more detail at this Insteon site Zwave vs Insteon than some websites so it is definitely a informative site which is worth checking out.
I love that he is dangerously eager regarding technology.
Nothing beats Creston

As with all technologies considered to be house automation I pay a lot of attention to any new stuff being announced through places like SmartLabs and Home Automation Inc.
The thing is these new devices being announced shouldn’t be considered actually as novel as they would seem due to the fact that they could be done before using existing off-the-shelf devices but for beginners they’re accessible as a organized set. As a side benefit you won’t need a 6 page schematic to set things up.

A deeper look shows us a few correlations with the technologies involved. As an example, not one of the offerings use handheld remote products as message repeaters, and they all use advanced RF one way or another. Looking deeper still, it becomes more interesting – I could endeavor to outline it myself and make mistakes, this place Zwave products has good discussions talking about any differentiators.
Now anyone with any visions for how I can bring in sufficient funds to cover the recent infatuation, don’t hesitate to let me know!
