My conversation with Ted got me planning …

We watched a sweet house on abc which almost made me want to copy it – They installed speech recognition and did a seriously outstanding job of the implementation. Close to every ceiling fan was integrated and even things like the fridge (including ice maker) plus the hot tub were controlled by the house.
I had been curious about Insteon for ages but thinking about systems like this, it was wicked and truly remarkable.
I often day dream of having our home do neat stuff along the lines of adjusting the temperature for each room or announcing the weather for the day in the morning. Ok still pretty far from now (despite the fact that some houses have made it work) despite this things like lighting control which can be changed over the internet are ubiquitous and economical this year. I really should sway my lovely wife... after which she can blame the place which made me interested in the first place: Insteon

I want nothing more than X-10

I should let people know that for technologies associated with home automation I pay a lot of attention to some of the new stuff created by places such as Power Control Systems and the Z-Wave alliance.
Nearly all of the latest devices created shouldn’t be considered so much big a deal as they claim because these things could all be accomplished previously working with existing basic stuff but nowadays they’re presented as a nice set. As a side benefit you won’t require an electrical engineering degree to figure it out.

A deeper look shows us a lot of correlations with the brands. For example, none of the offerings use handheld remote items as signal boosters, and all the items use RF in some manner. Beyond this though, things become more interesting – I could attempt to portray it here and mess it up, there’s a site here Zwave products has pages dedicated to showcasing the variations.
Now anybody having any legal ideas relating to ways for me to bring in a bit of cash to fund the recent obsession, for pete’s sake let us know!
