Everyone asks about automatic lighting

by on Nov.25, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

I should let people know that for technologies considered to be automation I pay a lot of attention to most of the recent products produced from places like the Zigbee Alliance and Inc.

It should be noted that the recent products produced aren’t actually as new as they appear because this stuff could all be created other ways using available readily available devices but nowadays they are accessible as a clean little package. One other thing is these kits don’t need fluke testers around the house to get it working.

Upon closer inspection there are quite a few correlations with the major players. For instance, few of the offerings use handheld remote items as RF relays, and almost all products use radio frequency someway. With other differences still, it gets involved – Rather than attempt to express it now and make mistakes, there’s a site here ISY-99 Insteon has pages dedicated to showcasing any discrepancies.

So if anyone has good ideas on tricks to bring in sufficient money to pay for my new habit, for pete’s sake let us know!

Dreaming about the fusion of home entertainment and automation technology …

by on Nov.24, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Changing passions from domotics into home movie rooms isn’t that big of a leap considering lots of users (including me) probably kicked off their journey for perfect ambiance via a integrated control unit to make the uber-cool in-house theatre replica just right. Personally the Logitech Harmony remote controls have turned out to be a godsend and we now own one for each one of our tv’s. Taking into consideration that I just don’t watch that live programming thing at all, there’s frequently what seemed like many receivers and the like to turn on which made me so frustrated grabbing the first remote and then the next until everything was ready, before we have to go backwards on the procedure once the show was finished.

While smart remotes are here now, the incorporation of automation technologies and home entertainment is inching increasingly common every week with some of the more prevalent places making IR integration from any powerline system now and as a result one can perform actions like turning on and off a stereo that’s across the house using only the wireless automation controls. Can you tell I’m excited? It’s neat, and the details are elaborated on with more of a tutorial style here Insteon vs X10 than most blogs so it’s absolutely a informative destination to read through.

I love that he is dangerously eager about .

I need Creston

Just like many things considered to be automation I watch pretty carefully any of the recent devices developed from consortiums such as SmartLabs and Power Control Systems.
Nearly all of these new items developed aren’t really as big a deal as they claim in that they has been built before working with currently accessible basic component parts but instead now they’re available as a tidy set. As a side benefit now you don’t need fluke testers around the house to get it working.

A deeper look shows us a few correlations with the brands. One such similarity, few of the offerings use portable products as RF boosters, and it seems like all use radio waves in some capacity. With other differences however, things get involved – I’m not going to attempt to express it at this point and explain things poorly, this site Zwave vs Insteon has good discussions stressing the discrepancies.

Now anyone with thoughts regarding how I can make enough funds to make up for our new obsession, for pete’s sake pass it along!

A commercial got me planning …

by on Nov.23, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

Two weeks ago a huge building on abc which almost made me stare – They had used automatic showers and had done a pretty decent job of having it be impressive. Every window curtain knew what the other was doing and since this was an extreme case the phones as well as the gazebo roof were accessible from the controllers everywhere.

I’ve been a fan of Zigbee for forever but thinking about a system of this caliber, it was crazy and truly remarkable.

I often day dream of having the current place do fancy tasks like running a bath by just asking the house to or voice alerting us to someone at the door. maybe some stuff is still several years in the future (it should be noted that some houses have made it work) though more realistic things such as lighting and music for parties or relaxing have come down in price and reasonably priced lately. When I get home I will sway my lovely wife... after which she can blame the place that got me interested: X10 home automation

Grrrr, I really dislike traffic jams on my route!

by on Nov.22, 2009, under Home Automation, insteon, lighting control, zwave

There are times I am apathetic about my day job, but every so often the traffic to work is all that’s needed to convince me to go back to bed. Just so many drowsy drivers and barely any attention to driving. Adding to this, I tipped my Starbucks coming in to the lot...
Another day another dollar.
