Just like many things considered to be house automation my wallet is at the mercy of some of the recent items being released from vendors like the Zigbee Alliance and the Zigbee Alliance.

What’s interesting is that the new devices being released shouldn’t be considered really as revolutionary as evolutionary since these things could all be built other ways using other basic devices but now they are offered as a clean little package. That and you won’t require an electrical engineering degree to get it working.

Upon closer inspection there are many parallels among the product lineups. As an example, almost none of the product lineups use battery-operated products as RF relays, and they all use advanced RF in some capacity. Beyond this though, things get involved – I’d rather not struggle to outline it myself and mess it up, this place Insteon vs X10 has good discussions digging into any divergences.

That said anyone with good ideas on methods to pull together some dough to sponsor the latest addiction, comment below and share!
