Home Automation Blog

Chatting with Joe made it hard to think about anything else …..

I recently saw a house on HGTV which probably made me salivate – The house had speech recognition and did a seriously outstanding job of the implementation. Nearly every thing that possibly could knew what to do and stuff like the outside sprinklers plus the pool were accessible from the controllers everywhere.

I’ve been excited by for a while now but we’d not attempted something this advanced, it was wicked and I want everything I saw now.

We talk about having my house more automated so it can like adjusting the temperature for each room or displaying the news in the bathroom mirror. Although these situations are a bit out in the future (it should be noted that some people have done it) still some more pragmatic goals like atmosphere settings for parties or relaxing have come down in price and reasonably priced this year. When I get home I will plead my case to my lovely wife...... at which point she can focus her energy on the site which made me interested in the first place: Insteon Controller

It is exciting what is going on now and coming down the pipeline. I am not a big believer in x10. I have had a lot of good luck with Control4 and the many zigbee applications that are out there.

I think having one company as the main integration piece is the best way to go, and then from their have it integrate everything. If you start to piece together x10 and other types of devices it get’s harder to integrate.

I like your blog I’ll keep watching.
    thanks
