Kicking off my marriage of entertainment centers with remote control lighting …..

Switching focus from domotics over into home movie rooms isn’t that much of a transition taking into account countless folks (including me) almost certainly began their curiosity for control of lights using a harmony remote to make the super cool in-house theatre setup ideal. Personally the Harmony series of remote controls are a godsend and we now use one for each of our tv watching areas. When you consider that we never watch that ‘live’ tv style of watching at all, there is frequently a ton of devices to turn on which drove me crazy grabbing one changer then the next one until things were setup, just to reverse the process once whatever I was watching was over.

With that in mind, the merger of home automation and home entertainment is inching nearer each day with almost all of the more prevalent manufacturers offering IR commands from a automation system now and so one can then do things like networking a receiver that is in an adjacent room of the house using just one’s wireless Insteon controls. Very cool overall, though the details are elaborated on with more of a tutorial style here: X10 switches than other sites so it’s a good destination which is worth checking out.
It’s apparent that he is entirely too eager when discussing home automation.
