There was a wicked place on that house makeover show which probably made my jaw drop – They had used motorized drapes and did a decent job of putting the pieces together. It seemed like every light and fan could be controlled and since this was an extreme case the dishwasher and bathroom plasmas were controlled by the house.
My wife and I have liked Insteon for ages but we’d not attempted something this advanced, it was crazy and I’m still in shock.
Sometimes I dream of having where we’re living do fancy tasks like running a bath by just asking the house to or reminding us of obligations as we leave the house. Some of this stuff is most realistically a couple years in the future (although some groups are doing it) despite this more realistic things for example environment modes which respond to your moods are ubiquitous and reasonably priced this year.
