I should let people know that for items considered to be home of the future type stuff I can’t resist any recent items being released from companies like the Z-Wave alliance and Power Control Systems.

Almost all of these latest devices being released are not actually as new as they appear seeing as this stuff has been created previously utilizing available basic component parts but now they’re presented as a tidy kit. That and now you don’t need an electrical engineering degree to figure it out.

A few comparisons show us a lot of parallels amongst the vendor offerings. For example, almost none of them use cordless products as message relays, and it seems like all use radio waves as a backup. With other differences though, it becomes involved – I’m not going to venture to portray it here and make a fool of myself, this site Insteon thermostat has good discussions showcasing any discrepancies.

So if you’re having any visions on how I can pull together some funds to make up for our recent dependence, please let me know!
