I recently saw a home on extreme home makeover which seriously caused me to drool – Everywhere they had installed automatic showers and did a so-so job setting things up. Almost every light knew what the other was doing and even things like the fridge (including ice maker) as well as the hot tub were part of the system.
I’ve been a fan of Zigbee for what seems like forever but seeing something like this, it was wicked and truly remarkable.
I often day dream of letting my house more automated so it can such as running a bath by just asking the house to or checking our grocery list for items we’re missing. maybe some stuff is still several years in the future (it should be noted that some people in the forums are doing it) though some more pragmatic goals like music at the touch of a button have come down in price and inexpensive this year. I think I need to convince the lady writing the cheques... at which point she can focus her energy on the site that got me started on all this: Insteon vs X10
