There was a killer house on that house makeover show that seriously caused me to drool – The house had lighting control and did a excellent job making it all work. Each ceiling fan knew what to do and amazingly the litter boxes and gazebo roof were accessible from the controllers everywhere.
I’ve used Insteon for ages but I hadn’t even dreamed about automation so integrated, it was amazing and truly remarkable.
Sometimes I dream of having my house do neat stuff such as following me with music through the house or displaying the news in the bathroom mirror. Many things are still several years from now (despite the fact that some people in the forums are doing it) nevertheless some more pragmatic goals such as atmosphere settings which can be changed over the internet are ubiquitous and easy(er) on the pocket recently. Now it’s just up to me to plead my case to my lovely wife... following which she can hold responsible the place where I found the information: Zwave vs Insteon
