My conversation with Ted triggered something …..

Two weeks ago a sweet house on the news which probably made me want to copy it – They had used touchscreen controls and did a so-so job making it all work. Every ceiling fan was centrally controlled and even silly things like the showers plus the bathroom plasmas were talking to each other.
I’ve been a fan of Zigbee for years but I had never seen automation of this level, it was amazing and I want everything I saw now.
Sometimes I dream of having the house do neat stuff such as following me with music through the house or announcing the weather for the day in the morning. Some of these things are still pretty far in the future (although some groups have done it) still some more pragmatic goals for instance environment modes for different moods or events are well within reach and economical today. Now it’s just up to me to win over the lady writing the cheques... following which she can blame the place which made me interested in the first place: Insteon thermostat
