As with all things related to home of the future type stuff I can’t resist any of the recent devices for sale from places like Home Automation Inc and Power Control Systems.
Some of the latest items for sale aren’t really as much of a step forward as you’d think due to the fact that these things could be created before utilizing currently accessible off-the-shelf items but for those starting out they’re available as a tidy set. That and now you don’t require fluke testers around the house to make it work.
Upon closer inspection there are a lot of resemblances among the technologies involved. For example, few of the offerings use handheld remote products as RF relays, and it’s hard to find one that doesn’t use advanced RF as a backup.
