When it comes to things related to automation I can’t resist some of the recent releases developed from places such as Power Control Systems and the Zigbee Alliance.
Almost all of the new devices developed aren’t really as revolutionary as evolutionary because they has been done other ways utilizing available standard products but now they are offered as a tidy set. That and now you don’t feel like you need fluke testers around the house to understand how it works.
Upon closer inspection there are a few correlations between the brands. As an example, few of the technologies use battery-operated items as signal repeaters, and it’s hard to find one that doesn’t use advanced RF someway. Beyond this though, things get a bit complex – Rather than attempt to express it here and explain things poorly, there’s a site here Insteon iPhone has pages dedicated to digging into some of the contrast points.
