It’s pretty well known that for devices considered to be house automation I pay a lot of attention to most of the new products coming out by companies such as the Z-Wave alliance and the Zigbee Alliance.
What’s interesting is that these new devices coming out are not actually as new as they appear due to the fact that this stuff was accomplished previously working with currently accessible basic items but instead now they’re offered as a nice package. As a side benefit you won’t need a 6 page schematic to understand how it works.
Certainly there exist quite a few resemblances among the brands. For instance, none of them use cordless devices as RF boosters, and it seems like all use radio frequency in some manner. With other differences however, things get a bit complex – I’m not going to endeavor to portray it now and make a bunch of errors, this place Home automation iPhone is better at stressing any differences.
