When dealing with devices associated with home of the future type stuff my wallet is at the mercy of all the new products for sale through consortiums like Power Control Systems and Home Automation Inc.
Almost all of the latest items for sale shouldn’t be considered so much as much of a movement as one would imagine since they could be created other ways using available readily available products but now they are offered as a organized set. As a side benefit now you don’t need a complicated circuit diagram to get it working.

Certainly there exist many likenesses between the vendor offerings. For example, not one of the technologies use portable items as RF repeaters, and it seems like all use wireless communication in some way.
